Growing up poor, dropping out of school, joining the US army, serving time in prison, to becoming a notable poet, Knight did it all. Join us as we dive into the life and literary works of Frances E.W. Haper. Born on the east coast she was a writer of many poems and books, and believed in what she wanted. She was also a teacher and a true activist for women who formed strong alliances with people such as Susan B Anthony. She wrote a book called Iola Leroy, which is an important literary work as of today. Iola Leroy was one of the first novels published by a black woman in the United States. Literary Wednesday Presents: Author/Spoken Word Performer-Toni Womack!



Join us as we welcome Toni "Toniwo" Womack as our guest for literary wednesday. We will be chatting with her about her book "That's what you get for running with scissors, vol 1." Toniwo has been recognized for her writing countless times in the literary industry. Her work has been published in essence, honey, black and sing, houston mag, and minority business journal. She has also been on a number shows such as the Tyra Banks show. Toni also owns her own literary publishing firm called blacklight publshing, and is co-founder of blacklight productions, which is her film company that works to turn books into movies. This mother of two is also a navy vet, and dabbles in spoken word. Toniwo is on her game and continues to shine in the literary industry.
