QUICK LIT TREND OF THE WEEK! It's All About "FLASH FICTION!"

What creative, fun and challenging way to express yourself this year! This year it's all about shortening things up with major meat in the middle. Yes "flash fiction" is in the literary house for 2011!

FLASH FICTION-is a style of fictional literature or fiction of extreme brevity. One type of flash fiction is the short story with an exact word count. Examples include 55 fiction, the drabble and the 69er. Nanofictions are complete stories, with at least one character and a discernible plot, exactly fifty-five words long. A Drabble is a story of exactly one hundred words, excluding titles, and a 69er is a story of exactly sixty-nine words, again excluding the title.

To immerse yourself in this popular writing style, we recommend reading, and studying examples throughout time that can help you be the best flash fiction writer you can possibly be. An example would be "Aesop's Fables." The roots of flash fiction goes back to this must read.
