This "quick lit trend" is always in no matter what. Yes, it's all about writing!
Writing-is the representation of language in a textual medium through the use of a set of signs or symbols (known as a writing system). It is distinguished from illustration, such as cave drawing and painting, and non-symbolic preservation of language via non-textual media, such as magnetic tape audio.
Writing most likely began as a consequence of political expansion in ancient cultures, which needed reliable means for transmitting information, maintaining financial accounts, keeping historical records, and similar activities.
The major writing systems– methods of inscription – broadly fall into four categories: logographic, syllabic, alphabetic, and featural. Another category, ideographic (symbols for ideas), has never been developed sufficiently to represent language.
*Writing is a tradition that will never go out of style. Many writers, and people alike depend on writing to communicate their message. It's important to remember that writing has a place in our society. When there are issues with literacy writing is usually the other part that you need to complete your literacy and to fully be literate. Again, very important and a must to live and achieve in this society.*
